For over 11 years, Duo Duo Project has worked tirelessly to reduce animal suffering and end the dog and cat meat trade in China. Together, we’ve made remarkable strides in fostering compassion and reducing the demand for this cruel practice. But now, we’re taking on our most ambitious challenge — a project that could be the biggest game-changer yet!
Next week, our Executive Director will travel to China to check on the development of our long-awaited spay and neuter training center—a dream delayed by the pandemic but now becoming a reality. This training center will be the first of its kind in China, dedicated to teaching veterinarians advanced and compassionate surgical techniques for spaying and neutering. Read more about our spay and neuter training center here.
Why is this training center so crucial?
While our education and advocacy programs have successfully reduced demand for the dog and cat meat trade, reducing the supply of strays remains critical. Stray animals are often captured and funneled into the black market for dog and cat meat. By equipping veterinarians with the skills to perform spay and neuter surgeries, we address this issue at its root, preventing thousands of animals from being born into suffering.
The inspiration for this training came in 2018, during a spay and neuter training camp we led in Dalian City. Watching young Chinese veterinarians learn less invasive techniques from compassionate American veterinarians was a revelation. Their enthusiasm and dedication confirmed what we knew in our hearts—we needed a permanent home for this lifesaving work.
But building this center is a massive undertaking. Renovations, equipment, supplies, and operational costs all add up. It’s a challenge—but with your help, we can make it happen.
Here’s how you can help!
Your monthly donation can directly support this groundbreaking project. Every dollar brings us closer to creating a world where no dog or cat has to suffer needlessly.
Your support doesn’t just fund a building. It helps build a movement. A movement of skilled veterinarians, compassionate communities, and a world where the dog and cat meat trade becomes a thing of the past.
We’ve achieved so much over the past 11 years. Now, let’s take this next step together! Thank you for being part of this journey and for believing in our shared vision of compassion and change.
